NCO Retreat 2008
Reported by Lance Corporal Shaun Cheah

From the 14th to the 16th of December in 2008, the NCOs and Officers (and a couple of the Officers’ children) were in Golden Sands in Port Dickson for the annual NCO retreat. The retreat consisted mainly of a long drive to the resort, lots of meetings, eating, fellowship and fun, and a long drive back.

As far as I can tell, the retreat was organized so that the NCOs and Officers could get together and discuss the year that had gone by and to plan for the year ahead, and indeed many things from the past were discussed and many things for the future were planned. However, since we would all be staying next to a beautiful beach and a nice warm sea, we might as well have some fun in between all that planning and discussing. Some of the things we enjoyed were icebreakers that ended with pictures that some of our NCOs wish would be destroyed, teambuilding games that ended with egg goop stuck to quite a few of us, a barbeque that stared with us salivating and ended with us satiated, and a trip to a mamak restaurant for dinner that technically ended the next day.

Going all the way down to Port Dickson without enjoying the seaside would be a waste, so of course we spent an evening at the beach. The girls built a sand pyramid while the guys were either throwing people into the water or throwing seaweed onto each other. I spent my time helping to dig a really big hole right up until it was my turn to get thrown into the sea.

All in all it was a very successful retreat since we managed to discuss and plan things that will make 2009 an even better year for 10th KL than 2008 was. All the fun we had was just a great bonus.
